This commissioned portrait of the little girl as main subject led to a variety of offshoots featuring the adorable Westies, Lovely’s personal pets. Literally following in this scene and subsequently following in a Westies Collection, the marshmallow puff companions compound the candy-coated feel of the overall piece. Created on the shore on Goose Rocks Beach in Kennebunkport Maine during low tide, the water is pulled back enough to fascinate with tide pool activity and reflective shallow waters. Lovely quotes a French impression connection to the voyeuristic painting perspective.
